McHenry County Marine Corps Detachment Funeral Services
Honoring Our Own
The McHenry County Detachment of the Marine Corps League stands ready to serve those who have served our nation. Our duty does not end when the uniform comes off—it continues in the way we honor our fallen and support their families.
When a Marine reports for their final roll call, our members are there to ensure their service is remembered with dignity and respect. The Detachment provides:
- Rifle Detail: A ceremonial salute honoring the courage and sacrifice of the Marine who has passed.
- Flag Folding Ceremony: A time-honored ritual in which the American flag is folded and presented to the Marine’s loved one, symbolizing a grateful nation’s final tribute.
- Taps: The haunting, reverent notes that mark a life of service and the eternal peace earned through sacrifice.
These ceremonies are more than tradition—they are a sacred promise. We are Marines taking care of Marines, offering comfort to families, and preserving the legacy of honor that defines our Corps.
Families seeking these honors should first contact their local trained funeral director, who will coordinate with the United States Marine Corps Casualty Assistance Office to request the official Military Funeral Honors Detail. This includes the flag folding and presentation, as well as the playing of Taps.
In the event the Marine Corps cannot provide these services due to distance, scheduling, or other extenuating circumstances, the McHenry County Detachment of the Marine Corps League proudly stands ready to fulfill those duties in their stead—ensuring that every Marine is honored properly and that their family receives the respect and remembrance they deserve.
By supporting the Marine Corps League, you help ensure that no Marine is ever forgotten and that every family feels the pride and gratitude of a thankful community.
Semper Fidelis — Always Faithful.
