Guy Newell began his service in the United States Marine Corps in 1975, earning a commission as an officer. Over the course of his career, he served with distinction in a wide range of leadership positions and remains deeply proud of his service to our nation. He concluded his Marine Corps career at the rank of Captain.

Captain Newell’s assignments included serving as Assistant S-3 with the Marine Aircraft Wing, Headquarters & Service Squadron in Okinawa; Platoon Commander with 1st Force Service Support Group, 7th Engineer Battalion at Camp Pendleton; and subsequent service with Landing Support Battalion. He later served as Company Commander, Communications Company, Headquarters & Service Battalion.

He was also selected to serve as a Company Commander at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia, before returning to Okinawa with the 3rd Marine Division, where he commanded a company with 4th Marines.

Captain Newell’s leadership and professionalism are beyond reproach. His dedication to service continued well beyond active duty through his involvement with the Marine Corps League, where he has provided outstanding service for more than 15 years. In November 2025, he was elected by his peers to serve as Detachment Paymaster, a role in which he continues to serve with distinction.
